2010 Little Miss Kickball Night at Whataburger Field is Monday, April 19th - first pitch 7:05p. This year is set to be the best night ever. The Hooks would like you to know.
First, we are having a Hooks Kickball giveaway to the first 1,500 kids ages 12 & under through the gate, so show up early!
Second, we are having a competition between the leagues, the league that sales/buys the most tickets will be rewarded with a special group recognition during the game.

NEWS FLASH! - May 5, 2009 - ALL GAMES WILL RESUME AS SCHEDULED THURSDAY, MAY 7th. THE SOUTHSIDE TOURNAMENT IS BACK ON! - GET READY TO PLAY BALL.

Southside Little Miss Kickball has been watching the ongoing health concerns closely and has due to the changes in this on going story, we will resume games as scheduled on Thursday, May 7th. In addition to this great news, we will also be going forth with our Southside Mother's Day Tournament as originally scheduled, May 8, 9 and 10! Come out and cheer for your favorite team all weekend long! Brackets will be posted as soon as they become available. Please check back often for more information!

FINAL DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED- TUES, MAY 12th

Because of unexpected cancellation of league play, the deadline is being extended. Any player not cleared on the Candy Fundraiser will not be allowed to participate in any games beginning Tuesday, May 12th. Coaches, please inform your players to avoid this outcome. Juanita Garza will be collecting money on at the fields Thursday, May 7: 6:30 to 8:00 PM and then again Monday, May 11 and Tuesday, May 12.

Great News!!! Our Annual Southside Mother's Day Tournament is back on! The news of the CCISD's reopening and the changing of the CDC guidelines, has also changed our plans. Divisional Brackets will be posted as soon as they become available. The Teenage Tournament and Pee Wee Exhibition scheduled for the Memorial Day Weekend will not take place.

SOUTHSIDE TOURNAMENT RESCHEDULED

Due to health concerns the annual Mother's Day Tournament hosted by Southside has been postponed and restructured. This year's tournament will take place Memorial Day Weekend, May 22 - 24. The tournament will be open to ALL TEENAGE TEAMS. We expect a great demand for spots in this tournament and encourage you to reserve your spot quickly. Entry fee for this tournament will remain $75.00. Rosters and Fees are due no later than May 15. Contact Fred Swartz 361.774.8105 to reserve your spot.

In addition to the TEENAGE ONLY Double Elimination Tournament, we will also be hosting a PEE WEE Division exhibition. This exhibition will consist of each team playing two (four-inning) games only. All PEE WEE Teams are welcomed to attend. Once again contact Fred Swartz at 361.774.8105 We deeply regret the cancellation of our previously scheduled tournament, and hope that this health concern passes quickly. BREAKING NEWS! - As of May 4, 2009 - ALL GAMES FOR THIS WEEK ARE POSTPONED. ALL PRACTICES ARE PROHIBITED - THE SOUTHSIDE TOURNAMENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

Southside Little Miss Kickball cares about your safety. As a precaution, we will be postponing all games scheduled for the Week of May 4th and until futher notice. Furthermore, as all city parks have been closed, teams may not practice until further notice. Finally, we are sad to also announce that the Southside Mother's Day Tournament has been cancelled due to this health concern. As of May 3, 2009 - ALL GAMES ARE ON AS SCHEDULED.

Southside Little Miss Kickball cares about your safety. As a precaution, we will be making HAND SANITIZER available in the bathrooms and the concession stand. As always, we encourage you to wash your hands frequently while at the field. Soap and hot water are ALWAYS available at Southside. To further prevent the spread of any germs we are instructing ALL TEAMS to avoid our customary hand clapping at the end of the game, instead we would like each team to simply say "GOOD GAME" as they pass each other at the end game. Please help in our effort in keeping our girls safe.

Candy Fundraiser - FINAL DEADLINE - THURSDAY, MAY 7th

Any player not cleared on the Candy Fundraiser will not be allowed to participate in any games beginning Monday, May 11th. Coaches, please inform your players to avoid this outcome.

SOUTHSIDE MOTHER'S DAY TOURNAMENT

As of Sunday, May 3, our Annual Mother's Day Tournament is a go! As with the situation throughout the nation, we will take precautions to keep all our participants safe. Hand sanitizer will be available in our bathrooms and concession areas. Our bathrooms will be cleaned even more frequently than normal and as an added precaution water will NOT be provided in the dugouts. Please make sure your team has plenty of water.

The Rescheduling Procedures have been updated to include the following information. Please make note of these changes and make sure to follow them.

RESCHEDULING PROCEDURE FOR TOURNAMENTS

Teams who have scheduled Friday and Monday games and participate in a tournament will have their games rescheduled if they so choose. The coach of the team participating in a tournament must contact the opposing team coach to reschedule. If there is a problem with the opposing coach rescheduling, you must contact the Player Agent, Roland Trevino, and he will reschedule the game. The rescheduling form must be used and turned in to the Player Agent as soon as possible before the tournament. If this procedure is not followed, your game may be a forfeit.

Saturday is a big day at Southside!

Saturday, March 28th:
9:00 - 2:00: Team Pictures begin, be there 15 minutes early!
11:00 - 2:00: BBQ distribution begins - you can buy additional plates, if needed!
4:00 - ???: Opening Ceremonies at the Fields, come out and show your team colors!

Umpire Commitments.

Everyone needs to check the Umpire Schedule and make sure that they or their team representative is their to cover their scheduled times. Written warning will be give to teams that have missed their commitments. Also, make sure that you sign in at the back of the concession stand. NAME AND TEAM THAT YOU ARE REPRESENTING SHOULD BE ON THE SIGN IN SHEET.

Games Have Begun!

March 23, 2009 marked the beginning of the official Little Miss Kickball playing season. The Junior games that were played at 6:30 were the first of our official games. Please remember to turn in your OFFICIAL SCORESHEET to back of the Concession Stand immediately after the game. Also, help keep our game results and standings up to date, please report scores to webmaster@sslmk.com nightly.

Work Day at the Fields March 21, 2009 will be a work day at the fields. All Coaches and Volunteers are encouraged to come out to the fields starting at 8:30 and ending approximately noon, and help out with the upkeep of the fields. With your help our league will continue to be the best in the state.

UPDATE - Testing and Clinic Thursday, March 19th we will conduct a "LAST CHANCE" rules clinic. If you were not able to attend our previous clinic, please make arrangements to be there. Roland Zepeda, our Rules Director, will conduct the rules clinic and other board members will assist with hands on instruction on marking the fields and scorekeeping. Umpire Schedule for the Week of March 23, 2009 Attached you will find Umpire Schedule for the Week of March 23, 2009. Please review it immediately and make arrangements to cover your scheduled games. Failure to attend your scheduled umpire responsibilities will result in forfeiture of your next regularly scheduled game. Please do your part to help our league run smoothly. Contact Adrienne Cavazos at 361.688.5844 with questions or concerns. Game Scores and Standings Coaches, please submit your game scores at the end of the night. I will be at the field almost every night collecting scores, but it would a great help to have your assistance. I will update the website each night after the games and standings will also be generated from these scores. Although, the practice games will not count towards your standings I would like to input these scores as well to keep my records complete. Please give me a hand with this huge endeavor, thanks in advance. Submit scores to webmaster@sslmk.com BBQ Fundraiser Money DUE Juanita, our Special Projects Director will be at the field collecting BBQ Ticket money on Thursday, March 19th, starting at 7 PM and until the Rules Clinic is done. Remember Coaches that your teams uniforms will not released until all BBQ Ticket monies is cleared for your entire team and individual uniforms will not be released to players that still owe registration. By Corporation Rules, all registration fees must be paid before the first scheduled game. Sponsors and Team Pictures Team Pictures will begin March 28, 2009. If you're team has not signed up for pictures please do so ASAP. Sponsors will receive a TEAM PICTURE mounted on a plaque as a gift of appreciation for their support. If your team has not secured a Sponsor, please contact league officials for ideas and possible solutions. Although we will do everything in our power to help you, it is the team's responsibility to obtain a sponsor.

Thank you to all that took advantage of our test taking night at the fields on March 17th. We will be administering the test once again on March 18th, and then again on March 19th. March 19th testing will be proceeded by a Rules Clinic. Please come out and ask your questions now! The count is up - 234,000 HITS!

UPDATE - Testing and Clinic

Tournament Forms DUE

Tournament request forms are needed as soon as possible. Please turn in the form to Mary Kendall at 361.249.7923, our Tournament and Standings Director. As soon as possible. This will allow Mary to request sufficient spots for our teams to attend. NOTE: All coaches must submit their tournament request to the Tournament Director. You may not contact the other league on your own. If you are ordering a "special" Tournament shirt, it must have the OFFICIAL LITTLE MISS KICKBALL LOGO printed on it to be worn at any LMK Tournament.

BBQ Fundraiser Money DUE

Juanita, our Special Projects Director will be at the field collecting BBQ Ticket money on Tuesday, March 17th, Wednesday, March 18th and Thursday, March 19th, starting at 7 PM and until all the games are done.

Remember to arrive at least 15 minutes early. Yes, LMK Night at Whataburger Field is indeed Easter Sunday. I spoke at length with the Hooks representative Bryan Mayhood about this scheduling issue. I was informed that the day was picked because of it's convenience for families. I hope that you can make it out! Coaches look for the umpire schedule by Sunday, March 15. Teams will be assigned by name, but not necessarily individuals from that team. Over the next few days you must contact Adrienne Cavazos with your umpire availabilty schedule and information about any additional umpire(s) your team may have. Please let her know if you have more than one daughter playing so that you will be inadvertantly scheduled during that child's game. Thanks for your cooperation.

03/09/2009 - Coaches Test Scheduled

Umipires and Coaches that have not taken their LMK Certification Test, must do so on Tues, March 17. The testing will start at 5:30 to 7:30. Anybody that cannot make this time should call Adrienne Cavazos at 361.688.5844. Thank you.

Coaches, missing paperwork must be turned in immediately to Adrienne Cavazos. Contact her at 688.5844. Sponsors and team pictures must all so be resolved ASAP.

Our dugouts are nearing completion. We will be meeting on Sunday, March 8 at 9:00 AM if you have an hour or two come out and give us a hand.

03/05/2009 - 2009 LMK Night at Whataburger Field

LMK Night at Whataburger Field will take place on April 12, 2009. It is an early game this year, and unlike years past this LMK Night will be on a weekend, enabling families to attend and not have to worry about the late hour for the young ones. Come out and enjoy the fun! A flyer with ticket information and pricing will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

Have you been by the field lately? Your Field Directors have been hard at work raising and replacing the dugout toppers on all four fields. The work is almost done. Come out when you get a chance and see the hard work they've done.

03/03/2009 - BBQ Ticket Fundraiser

The Leagues BBQ Fundraiser is well underway. Remember that this year each BBQ plate will be $6.00. A great deal for any family. Each girl must sell only 6 tickets to meet her league requirement. Encourage your players to sell as many tickets as possible, as each ticket over their requirement helps Southside with rising cost of functioning. The BBQ plate distribution will be March 28, 2009 from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Thank you for all your help and support!

The first day of practices has arrived. Hopefully each coach has met with thier teams and has established a practice schedule. All coaches must turn in thier practice field information sheet to the League, ASAP. Remember coaches to distribute your team's BBQ Tickets. Girls, selling these tickets helps every girl in our league. Do you part to make Southside even better. Also, if you have team fundraisers on the agenda, let me know! I can let our entire email distribution list know about your fundraiser, but only with your help!

02/28/2009 - Schedules are posted

Schedules for the 2009 Little Miss Kickball Season has been posted. Currently only the PEEWEE, JUNIOR and SENIOR DIVISION SCHEDULES are complete. TEENAGE is coming soon! These schedules have been carefully constructed and although great care has been taken to post them exactly as the league has given them to me, remember that this schedule, is UNOFFICIAL. The OFFICAL LEAGUE CALENDAR will be posted in the back of the concession stand. Please help keep my RESULTS and STANDINGS as accurate as they can be. Email me after your games with the game score and outcome. Emails should be directed to webmaster@sslmk.com. Thank you for your help in this matter.

New this year! Scoresheet Pads will be available at the Concession Stand at a cost of $3.00 for a 20-sheet Pad. Just ask Johnny Bernal at the checkout.

Southside would like to thank all that were present for our Coaches Clinic. We went over a lot of material that all coaches should know. If you were not present, please check with a Board Member as soon as possible for an explanation of the material covered. A very special thank you goes out to Jimmy Sanders, Linda Sanders, and Dale Baird for their help in conducting our Rules Clinic. Coaches if you have not held your Parent/Team Meeting, this coming week would be a great time to do so, make sure to discuss the your coaching philosophy and acceptable behavior as a spectator. Please emphasize the need for good sportsmanship from players, parents and spectators and remind everyone involved in with your team that our entire league is conducted by VOLUNTEERS and we must respect and thank those that OFFICIATE, regardless of the outcome of your games. Once again, PRACTICES MAY NOT BEGIN BEFORE MARCH 1, 2009. Please contact Adrienne Cavazos at 361.688.5844 with your umpiring preferences and schedules, if they will affect your umpiring commitment. Thank you Coaches for a very smooth DRAFT. Please contact your players as soon as possible. Remember that you cannot practice until March 1, 2009. Also, a Mandatory Players Clinic will take place February 21st at 10 AM, please make arrangements to be there. Game Balls and Rule Books will be distributed at this meeting. Those coaches that do not currently have a Coach Certification card, must attend and take the Coaches Test to receive their card. Thank you Coaches for all you do.
