The
2009 All-Star Tournament began with a site
never seen before; the presence of
four State Championship Trophies at the
Opening Ceremonies. As most know, last
year inclement weather at the 2008 State
Tournament host by OSO, ended the Tournament
prematurely with the announcement of Teenage
Co-Champions.
The parade of teams at the Delco Events
Center culminated with the entrance of the
Junior State Championship Trophy and the
Senior State Championship Trophy carried in
by Northwest Corpus Christi and the Teenage
Division Trophies hoisted by Northwest
Austin and Southside. With the
greatest of anticipation the 2009 State
All-Star Tournament was declared open by
Corporation President Tina Saenz.

11:45am: Teenage vs. CC United
- (4-6)
The Teenagers fell to CC United in a
game where the lead changed hands
several times. The close game
was finally decided in the fifth
inning when a ball kicked to the
fence in right field scored United's
go ahead runs.
7/3/2009 4:00pm: Juniors
vs. CC United - (8-4)
In the second game of the day for
the Juniors, they played a
determined CC United. The

four innings, but Juniors finally
came through with some well timed
kicks to score the go ahead runs.
7/3/2009 5:15pm: Seniors
vs. CC United - (1-0)
The tightest game of the day was
definitely the Seniors against CC
United. The game was 0-0 til
the fourth inning when the Seniors
took a lead with great base running
that they would never relinquish.
7/4/2009 11:45pm: Teenage
vs. Riverside (3-1)
Our Teenage came back strong versus
Riverside. Their defense was
strong but after a well placed kick
to right field and Anna's first ever
HOMERUN (pictured here), the
Teenagers shut the door on Riverside
and advanced to play San Diego.
7/4/2009 4:00pm: Juniors
vs. Tip-O-Tex (7-1)
With a strong showing against
Central Austin, the Juniors
continued their scoring frenzy, by
putting another seven runs on the
board. Terrific bunts and
quick running lead to a decisive
victory over Tip-O-Tex.
7/4/2009
5:30pm: Seniors vs. NWA (1-3)
The Seniors met the host league
representatives in an early evening
battle. Although our Seniors
fought hard in the game the NWA
Team, was able to score some
difficult runs and squeak out a
victory over our Seniors.
7/4/2009 6:45pm: Teenage
vs. San Diego (11-0)
The Teenage team jumped on the board
very quickly putting 6 runs up in
the first inning. They never
let up. With a great showing
the teenage team was poised to play
UHO in the 9:00pm game.
7/4/2009 7:45pm:
Seniors vs. UHO (1-3)
Our Seniors worked hard all day on
their journey through the loser's
bracket, but were unable to defeat
UHO. With a well kicked ball
the UHO Seniors scored two runs in
the third inning and added one more
later in the game. Although
Southside fought back and scored a
run, it was not to be. The
Seniors were eliminated from the
Tournament.
7/4/2009 9:00pm:
Teenage vs. UHO (0-2)
The game remained scoreless
throughout most of the match up, but
with bases loaded the UHO Team was
able to gain the lead by scoring 2
runs; which they never
relinquished. After fighting
the whole day for the right to
defend last year's championship, the
quest was over. The Teenagers
were eliminated from the Tournament.
7/5/2009 10:30am: Juniors
vs. NWA (2-5)
Still sitting in the Winner's

NWA. Their powerful pitching
and offense, turned out to be too
much. The Juniors fell to NWA
in hard fought match.
7/5/2009 12:00pm: Juniors
vs. Brownsville North (2-13)
As the Juniors fought hard to reach
the Junior Championship Game, the
Brownsville North Juniors had their
sites set as well. Our Juniors
struggled to prevent BN from
scoring. In the final game of
the day for Southside, our Juniors
fought hard but fell to Brownsville
North. But not before securing
Third Place in the Junior Division.
Congratulations on placing in this
year's Tournament. Job well
done!
